Aleksandra Klimova

About Me

Alexandra Anatolyevna Klimova is an educational psychologist with more than 15 years of experience working with children, including those with special needs, and their families. My mission is to support children and their loved ones in overcoming emotional challenges, improving communication, developing essential life skills, and strengthening family relationships.

In my work, I use play-based and art therapy approaches (sand therapy, art therapy, sand drawing), elements of the gestalt approach, and modern methods of alternative communication for nonverbal children. I work with children with autism spectrum disorder, cerebral palsy, developmental delays, and other conditions affecting learning and communication. My goal is to help children reach their potential while also supporting parents on this journey.

Professional Competencies

• Support for children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), cerebral palsy (CP), developmental delays, multiple developmental disorders, and cognitive or communication difficulties
• Development of communication skills, including the introduction of alternative communication for nonverbal children
• Formation of play skills “from scratch” in children with developmental challenges
• Correction of parent-child relationships and family support in accepting a child’s diagnosis
• Assistance for families in crisis situations (divorce, loss, relocation, stressful events)
• Development and correction of cognitive functions (attention, memory, thinking)
• Comprehensive diagnostics of cognitive, emotional, and personality development, including school readiness assessments (Wechsler test and other tools)
• Play and art therapy methods (sand therapy, art therapy) to address emotional and behavioral difficulties.

Education

• Herzen State Pedagogical University, Faculty of Special Education
• Master’s degree in Psychological and Pedagogical Support for the Education of Children with Developmental Disorders
• Advanced training programs in: gestalt therapy, working with children with ASD, CP, and severe motor impairments, alternative communication, art pedagogy.

Professional Experience

• Work as an educational psychologist in schools for children with developmental disabilities in St. Petersburg
• Multidisciplinary support for children with special needs in collaboration with speech therapists, special educators, and medical specialists.
